CNH Now Hiring After Getting Big Grant
One of Grand Island's biggest employers will soon be looking to hire 20 full-time employees. Governor Dave Heineman announced Friday, Case New Holland will be getting a $600,000 grant. The dollars, will help to update and streamline the company's manufacturing line.
The money is coming from a community development block grant. State dollars that will help Case New Holland invest in equipment to increase its production of combines and hay machinery.
In addition to the $600,000 in state funds, the company will also be investing nearly two million of its own dollars to complete the project. For Grand Island's community development leaders, its a great sign.
"This is not only an economic development thing, but it's going to affect car sales, grocery sales, restaurant sales, housing, everything," said Joni Kuzma, Grand Island's community development director.
The state has been working with Grand Island over the past five to seven years, said Kuzma, creating opportunities for business that the city is excited to support.
They have been tremendously supportive of Grand Island and that confidence has caused us to do more things and recruit other businesses," she said.
Case New Holland isn't the only benefactor of major grant dollars. In the next 30 days, Kuzma said Grand Island's energy park will be seeing a $900,000 check to help the sewer and water infrastructure get business ready.
It is great news for community partners like the Economic Development Corporation who Kuzma
said has been instrumental in helping create Grand Island's booming commercial industry.
